Never underestimate the value of good water balance in your pool!
We recommend using a simple 4-in-1 test kit available from any pool shop along with the Naked Copper Test Kit provided with your Naked System.1. Total Alkalinity level (TA)
Recommended levels - 80-150ppm
Total Alkalinity should not be confused with pH, although the two are closely related.
When Total Alkalinity is high add hydrochloric acid (a little at a time).
When Total Alkalinity is low add sodium bicarbonate to raise it.
2. pH level
Recommended levels - 7.2-7.6
A correct pH level must be maintained to prevent problems such as black spot, staining, cloudy water, etc. An incorrect pH level can damage the surface finish and walls of your pool.
When pH is high add hydrochloric acid to lower it.
When pH is low add sodium bicarbonate to raise it.
Important: When using a Naked pH Controller, if the pH is not maintaining in the correct range, you can adjust the dose run time to suit. Please refer HERE for instructions.
When using an automatic pH controller it is important to check the calibration often using a manual test kit for a comparison. Auto controllers need regular calibration checks and sensor cleaning.
3. Copper test
Recommended Levels - 0.2-0.5ppm
Use the Copper Test Kit provided with the unit for the most accurate results.
Ensure your pH is at the correct levels to obtain an accurate copper reading.
High pH will mask the copper reading and although copper is actually present a reading may not be seen.
If copper is low, please refer HERE on how to adjust the levels.
