Often pool shops will talk about 'Winterising' your swimming pool. This is a process of adding chemicals such as algaecide and clarifiers into the pool when the pool isn't going to be used for extended periods of time. These are NOT required with a Naked Pool as the system has its own built-in algaecide (copper).
MENU 13 allows you to set your Naked System to Winter Mode and reduce both the OXI and ION setting by 50% from its current default. This reduces chlorine and copper production as they are in less demand by the pool during winter months.
You will see on the DDS screen the Mode will show “WINTER”.
ION SET will automatically reduce by 50% when the temperature is less than 20 degrees Celsius and will revert back to 20% once the temperature increases past 20 degrees Celcius.
The pump running hours can also be reduced by selecting SINGLE TIMER so the pump run time is reduced. Keep an eye on the clarity of the water and make adjustments if necessary. It is important to remember to set it back to DUAL TIMER in the warmer months to ensure adequate circulation.
If you are utilising a Naked pH controller it is important to monitor the pH level and reduce the run time of the controller if needed to ensure the pH is remaining within range as the demand for acid will be less during the cooler months.
IMPORTANT! – Pool blankets trap chlorine in the pool. It is important to reduce the OXI Output when the pool is covered and to remove the blanket often to allow the water to breathe and be exposed to direct sunlight where possible.
Please see below videos for selecting Winter Mode depending on the model of system you have installed.
It is also important to remember to turn Winter off when the weather warms up to ensure adequate sanitisation and circulation of your pool.
To do this, go to MENU 13 WINTER MODE and press OK, wait a few seconds and the unit will ask if you want to Exit Winter Mode, press PLUS (+) for yes and the Oxi Out will return to 100%.
