1. We are not pool builders
From our name, we are often asked if we actually build ‘freshwater’ pools. The simple answer is No. We specialise in water sanitisation or disinfection for swimming pools.
The business model for Naked is to work with and support the swimming pool industry by supplying quality product to pool builders, retail shops and service technicians so that they can package the right solution for you whether that is for a brand new pool or renovating an existing swimming pool.
Our company exists to provide your swimming pool with the healthiest, safest and most crystal clear water that will not only save you money in the future but is also better for the environment.
At Naked, we don’t just want your swimming pool to be an extension to your backyard, we want to convert your backyard into a Freshwater Oasis that you can truly enjoy all year round.
2. Like a pool but not sure where to start?
Typically any type of permanent backyard swimming pool is going to be one of the bigger investments you make during a lifetime. In todays market there are so many options to choose from such as concrete, fibreglass, in-ground or aboveground and now smaller plunge pools are becoming increasingly popular as the size of land decreases in metropolitan areas.
There are many aspects to consider when building a pool including budget, permits, regulations, insurance and more, so the more information you have at hand, and with the right industry assistance you can become well educated in making the best decision to suit your lifestyle.
3. How planning well can save you money
Just like any building project, the better you can plan the less likely you will run into trouble during the process and will be satisfied, if not ecstatic once your new pool or renovation is complete.
Whether you are building a new home, renovating, or upgrading an existing swimming pool, planning in advance will assist with organising contractors and being prepared for any possible issues that may arise such as time constraints, weather, permits or other regulations that can possibly cause unnecessary frustration or hold up your project.
You should also consider not just the building or installation of the pool but ongoing maintenance for the years to come. Think and plan about how much time you may have to dedicate to your pool water and equipment. Consider things such as the type of filter that will suit, the sanitisation system such as chlorine, salt or mineral chlorine or even now freshwater systems like the NKD1 which can reduce chemical consumption by as much as 70% which is better for your health, pool surrounds and equipment over the long run.
Other things to consider when planning are whether or not you want to heat the pool and what type of heating suits best such as gas, solar or heat pumps. Would you consider putting a pool blanket on the pool to reduce heat loss and evaporation? All these things when planned at the beginning reduce possible headaches and additional costs if trying to implement after your pool is already completed.
4. Knowledge is Power
Building a pool is a complex process with a number of steps to move through. There are also certain legal requirements that must be met and it is critical that your intended builder meets them all.
The more information you can gather, the more people you can talk to is only going to help you when planning for your new pool. Try not to be overwhelmed with too much information, but the more knowledge you have the more likely you will start to ask the right questions of your suppliers, in particular the pool builder themselves.
If you have friends with swimming pools, ask them about their experience. Not only with they’re particular builder, but what worked and what didn’t and in particular how they find managing their own backyard pool after they’ve had time to experience it. Is it simple to maintain or are they always struggling with their equipment and making trips to the pool shop every weekend trying to maintain water balance and clarity?
No doubt, you will rely on your chosen pool builder to provide as much information as possible to you and possibly look after all the permits, guidelines, insurance and other factors, but we cannot stress that ‘Knowledge is Power’ and this will help you in making the right choice for your backyard oasis. We will have lots more detail in the topics to come regarding all of the points highlighted above.
